Sidewalk Poetry

This is getting out there a little late, but I thought I should mention it:

EVERYDAY POEMS FOR CITY SIDEWALK

The sidewalks in Saint Paul are paved in poetry!  Calling Saint Paul
residents to enter the contest to have your poem installed in our
everyday sidewalks!

As part of this unique program by our Public Works Department and
Public
Art Saint Paul, we are looking for short poems that provide a
delightful
moment of outdoor reading.  Poems can be inspiring, funny, meaningful,
cynical, mundane…anything appropriate for the general public.  Up to 5
poets will receive a $150 prize and citywide honor!

Deadline: Friday, May 29, 2009.  For information and to enter, go to:
www.stpaul.gov/poetry

I’m going to be submitting something, and I would encourage everyone to do that! It’s a really cool opportunity, and I don’t write too many happy poems (or short ones), so this is a nice challenge.

Updated the Word! section with the poem I’m submitting – take a quick read and let me know what you think.
